Work Hours: Sunday-Thursday 10:00am-6:00pm
We are looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious and nutritious meals for our residents. We are a social services agency and usually have around 15-25 people for lunch and 30-50 people for dinner. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. Candidate should have multi-tasking skills. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Properly rotate in new food
- Check quality of ingredients
- Plan menu and food supply list with Client Services Supervisor
- Plan ahead on supplies and equipment and place orders when there are shortages weekly
- Pick up food weekly at the Food Bank
- Create weekly menus
- Schedule is 10am-6pm 5 days: must include one weekend day
- Maintain serv-safe requirements as is dictated by the Food Bank
- Wash all dishes and utensils
- Prep breakfast trays each evening to be put out in the morning
- Prepare for Food Bank audit- Yearly
Skills
- Proven experience as cook
- Creative use of available ingredients
- Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Customer service skills for interacting with residents, co-workers, and volunteers
- Very good communication skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Serv-safe preferred
- Time management- ensuring all meals are served on time
- Utilize on-hand supplies and food items for meal creations
- Work independently
- Delegate tasks to volunteers
